Reunion Arena Meeting Update - 9/3/2005

I had more meetings today with the Red Cross and the City of Dallas Emergency Preparedness Office. Both organizations are totally focused on establishing and maintaining the logistics necessary to continue receiving evacuees into the Dallas area and provide them with basic food, clothing and shelter. Everyone has agreed that establishing an AA Group at Reunion Arena is a great idea and they are in support of it, their priorities are understandably elsewhere at the moment. Accordingly, they have all agreed to take our information and escalate it to senior officials managing the priorities with maintaining the intake facilities at Reunion and the Convention Center.

While waiting for our requests to work through official channels, I have also approached the Dallas City Council through my District council member and Mayor Laura Miller directly and am awaiting a response from both. I am also seeking other contacts that anyone may have with management of either Reunion Arena or the Dallas Convention Center. Please forward any information you may have or suggestions to me directly.

In the meantime we continue to receive word that many groups are taking up extra donations and we ask that you continue to do such as we'll need plenty of literature and what we don't need our fellow members rebuilding in the Louisiana area are going to need. Please continue to check back for regular updates. Thank you and God Bless.
