Letter to Our Friends in Louisiana

Hello from Dallas, TX ---

I'm Jeff H. and I'm an Alcoholic in Dallas and member of the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Intergroup Association. Groups from all over the Metroplex are currently collecting donations and sending them to our Intergroup office where we'll be collecting money for Big Books and Literature. I am in touch with the City of Dallas and the Red Cross and we are attempting to set up a temporary AA group with meetings to be held frequently during the days, weeks and months ahead at Reunion Arena and the Dallas Convention Center where evacuees are being put up upon their arrival in Dallas. This hopefully will help minimize the stress of finding transportation and childcare for those families arriving here and looking for the hand of Alcoholics Anonymous.

We would like to keep in touch with you as the situation improves down there to make sure you have the AA materials you need to support all AA members in your area. We'll gladly forward Big Books, 12 & 12's, Daily Reflections and other literature as our donations permit.

Our primary information including contact numbers can be accessed via the Dallas Intergroup Association website at www.aadallas.org. Additionally, I have a blog set up to keep our groups locally and outside the Dallas area informed of our efforts to get a group established at the Convention Center as well as updates on our efforts to distribute literature. Postings can also be made there by AA's from around the area who are interested in helping, need assistance or just want to offer their experience, strength and hope to members of our fellowship affected by this terrible disaster. I've copied the rest of my colleagues from our Intergroup Board and on behalf of your fellow members of Alcoholics Anonymous throughout Texas we'd like to extend our deepest sympathies for the losses experienced by those of you in the Louisiana area. Please know that you're not alone. We'll be in touch and hope you'll keep us posted as the situation evolves.
